Today, the Linux kernel underlies Google’s Android OS, the most widespread mobile platform in the world, and when the Linux Foundation announces a new open source initiative, the biggest companies in the world take notice. The group has made its latest such announcement, that it will direct a powerful group of industry leaders in developing and supporting an open source standard for blockchain technology. Dubbed the  Open Ledger Initiative  (OLI), the just-revealed group already counts tech giants like IBM,  Intel , Mitsubishi, and Cisco among its members, along with financial institutions like J.P. THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO AS A GUY WHILE DATING A GIRL: NIGERIAN GIRL AS A CASE-STUDY !! I wouldn’t say I am a dating expert, but I can say I have learnt a lot from the dating world. Being in Nigeria and having dated some Nigerian girls, I have come up with some basic rules, even if you are a novice, follow this rules and you are good to go. All these rules applies if you are below 35 years old(below marriage age) or if you don’t plan on getting married any time soon. 1)Never, ever fall in love; Yes you heard me right, you better shoot yourself in the head than fall in love, forget about the idea of love you see on TV or novels, here in Nigeria it doesn’t happen that way, if you fall in love, you are at the mercy of whoever you are in love with, although some girls are worth it, its just a very very small fraction of Nigerian girls that deserve that fairy tales types of love, a handful of them don’t value your love, even if you have money to spend on them, they would o

‘Skyscraper’ Chips Promise Powerful Computing Boost !! http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/219171-skyscraper-chips-promise-powerful-computing-boost A team of researchers led by Stanford’s Mohamed M. Sabry Aly, Subhasish Mitra, and H.-S. Philip Wong want to put a “skyscraper” of computer chips in your next PC. The idea is to stack application processors, memory modules, and other components one on top of the other in “a revolutionary new high-rise architecture for computing,” according to the Stanford News Service . Such an “electronic super-device” using the team’s Nano-Engineered Computing Systems Technology, or N3XT, could power a computer which combines “higher speed with lower energy use [to] outperform conventional approaches by a factor of a thousand,” Wong told Stanford’s news journal. Stacking chips has long been seen as a viable path towards building a more efficient, powerful computing architecture than the current template, which lays out and connects compo

LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO COULD BE THE NEXT CITIES TO GET GOOGLE FIBER !! http://www.extremetech.com/internet/219098-los-angeles-chicago-could-be-the-next-cities-to-get-google-fiber The second and third most populous cities in America could be the next municipalities to host Google’s gigabit Internet service provider, Fiber. The company  announced  that they want to invite the cities of Chicago and Los Angeles to explore the possibility of getting the hottest Internet service around. They’re by far the largest cities yet considered by the fledgling ISP, having previously come to just a single city with more than a million residents (San Jose). The idea is likely to be received in Chicago and LA much as it has been elsewhere: very, very well. This is an important moment for the service, since it’s the first time Google has publicly considered going for the country’s most important urban centers. Not only does this represent a more powerful attack on the customer-base of compe

BIAFRA MAY BE STAGING A COMEBACK !!!! http://www.the-american-interest.com/2015/12/03/biafra-may-be-staging-a-comeback/ Dissatisfied with Nigeria’s messy governance and the recent election of a Muslim president from the country’s north, the Igbo people are starting to talk again about reviving Biafra, the secessionist state that was repressed in a brutal civil war in the late 60s. The  Economist reports : Secessionist organisations in Biafra have been agitating for years, but analysts reckon the scale of the current marches is unprecedented. Superficially, they were sparked by the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the outspoken head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement, and director of Radio Biafra, a pirate station.[..] In the presidential election in March most south-easterners voted for the incumbent, Goodluck Jonathan, who comes from their region. He lost to Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim from the north. “#NigeriaWillRot”, Mr Kanu’s radio station de

The documents are believed to be the first time the government has provided details of its so-called national security letters, which are used by the FBI to conduct electronic surveillance without the need for court approval. The filing made public Monday was the result of an 11-year-old legal battle waged by Nicholas Merrill, founder of Calyx Internet Access, a hosted service provider, who refused to comply with a national security letter (NSL) he received in 2004. Merrill told Reuters the release was significant “because the public

The sources said the hackers managed to block the Internet banking activity of three Greek lenders for a few hours last Thursday but did not penetrate the banks' security or obtain confidential client data or access to accounts. "All they achieved was to block the web banking for a few hours. Nothing else," one banker told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity. The sources said the hackers had given the name of their group as Armada Collective. The banks had refused to pay up and alerted the security services and the Greek central bank, which are investigating. "We informed the police and the country's secret services are involved,&
